Documented comparability data like the above supports — but does not by itself establish — a board's rebuttable presumption of reasonableness under IRC §4958 (intermediate sanctions). The presumption also requires advance approval by an independent board body and contemporaneous documentation. CauseComp provides comparability data for informational purposes and does not provide legal or tax advice.

What the alternatives cost: a national static compensation report runs $449–$1,199 per year and can't adjust to your budget size or metro — we set out the differences in our side-by-side with Candid. A custom compensation study runs $5,000–$15,000 and answers one year's question. CauseComp Professional is $996/year, interactive, and covers your whole org.
Why annual-first?

Comp questions recur — ED reviews, budget season, offer letters, 990 filing. An annual plan means the answer is always a login away, and it's how we can price at $83/month instead of consultant rates.

Why is Professional's first month $297?

Professional month-to-month is $297 for the first month, then $99/month after. The one-time activation covers standing up your first board-ready analysis. Annual Professional ($996/yr) has no activation fee — it's the better value if you'll use CauseComp more than a couple of months.

What happens when my free searches run out?

Free accounts include two Workforce searches and permanent access to the sample executive report. After that, Essential starts at $49/month billed annually — or grab a one-time Board Report if you have exactly one question.

Can I switch tiers?

Anytime. Plan changes take effect immediately and are prorated — you're credited for unused time on your current plan. Board Report buyers get $349 credited toward Professional within 90 days.

Is my data confidential?

Your queries and organization details are never shared or sold. Benchmarks are built from public filings and federal surveys.
